What is Thrush?

Thrush is caused by the yeast living in the vagina that grows bacteria, which is normally harmless and causes no symptoms. However, sometimes symptoms can appear when the bacteria takes a hold, which can then cause Thrush. Although you cannot get thrush by having sex, it could make your symptoms worse. Wearing tight underwear or trousers can bring on Thrush. It can also be caused by washing or sitting in a bath with perfumed products

Some signs to look for:

  • A yeasty smelly vaginal discharge which may be thick.
  • Itchy and irritating
  • Becoming swollen

Who can get it?

Thrush is more common in women but both men and women can be affected.

Can it be treated?

Yes, it can be treated with tablets or cream.
