Ketamine – special K, super K, vitamin K

What is it?

Ketamine is a powerful anaesthetic used during surgery on animals and humans. When produced legally ketamine comes as a liquid, which is injected. Illegally produced ketamine is a grainy white powder, which is snorted or taken as a tablet.

What are the effects?

Ketamine can cause perceptual changes and out of body experiences. Some people say that they feel as if their mind and body have been separated, which is known as a ‘K hole’. It reduces body sensations and in some cases can make the user paralysed and unable to move.

What are the risks?

Due to the reduction of body sensations users are in more danger of injuring themselves without realising. Using ketamine can cause panic attacks and depression and can also make any existing mental health problems worse.

The law

Ketamine is a class C drug.
It is illegal to have, sell or give away.
